About Us

The Flasher Community Bulletin (originally Flasher Community Group) was formed after a Park Board open forum in the Summer of 2018.  A small group of individuals residing in and out of town came together and bonded over the common goal of connecting and empowering the Flasher Community.  Since then, we have created several community-wide events, with hopes to grow as a non-government organization.

Community Directory

One of our greatest goals in connecting the community is to update the area directory.  The Area Resources section of this site features our work thus far. We hope to continue to expand the listings, and have this site serve as a modern directory resource for our residents.

Sunday Market

Our premier Sunday Market was held in September of 2018 in the courtyard on Main Street.  In the months since, the market has evolved into a community event featuring vendors, brunch and entertainment.

Memorial Hall

In our meetings, we also discussed the need for a non-denominational, family-friendly community center in town. We've set our sights on rehabilitating Memorial Hall on Main Street. This beautiful WPA era building once hosted numerous events, from "show-all" movie nights to a Lawerence Welk performance. It has been out of commission for several decades, but is still sound in construction.  We are continuing to brainstorm fundraising ideas to aid in asbestos removal and rehabilitation, to make this fixture of our town full of life once again.

Trunk or Treat

Flasher's first community-wide Trunk-or-Treat was held on October 31, 2018.

Over a dozen families and individuals from around the area parked their decorated cars along Main Street and enjoyed handing out candy and socializing with trick-or-treaters.

Future Plans

The original group of community members no longer meets on a regular basis. However, the Flasher Park Board has been gracious enough to allow any interested individuals to come to their meetings, and discuss project ideas. We hope to start meeting regularly again as an independent group in the near future, as we have several project ideas for the summer.

Some future project ideas include:

  • Flasher Food Pantry aid

  • Town cleanup/beautification day

  • Bale decorating competition

  • Toddler playgroup

  • Facebook
  • Instagram

This is a volunteer run website, and is not affiliated with any government organization.
